April 5th, 2011Interview Tips for CNA Jobs
A job interview makes many people nervous and apprehensive. You’ll have to get ready to face job interviews, once you’ve completed your CNA training and taken the certification exam, and sent out applications to nursing facilities. But if you prepare well for the interviews, there will be no reason for you to feel tense.
You have to remember that your resume has impressed the employer enough to call you for a CNA job interview. The interview now gives you a chance to convince the hiring manager that you have the qualities and skills to take care of people who are sick and need professional help. You will need to show the interviewer you are confident of carrying out the duties and responsibilities of a CNA. In other words you will have to give the interviewer enough reasons to believe you’re the type of candidate who’ll make an excellent CNA.
Here are a few helpful tips for creating a good impression during a CNA job interview and making a successful entry in to the nursing work force.
Create a powerful first impression
The moment you step inside the hiring institution’s office for the job interview, your outward appearance will be the first thing about you that your interviewer will notice. And in general, first impressions often prove to be lasting impressions. Here’s what you can do to make sure you’re dressed appropriately for an interview.
- Be well groomed and see that you’re dressed conservatively and professionally. Wear clothes that are smart and clean.
- Your hair should be neatly groomed, and fingernails clean and clipped. Cleanliness is an important aspect of providing medical care and hence very vital in any healthcare facility. Patients too feel reassured if their caregivers are neat and clean.
- Avoid wearing provocative clothing like short skirts or revealing T-shirts. Also, don’t wear anything too casual such as jeans or sneakers.
- Don’t wear any heavy, garish makeup or heavy jewelry.
Highlight your accomplishments
From the resume you have submitted, the interviewer is already familiar with the duties you have performed during CNA internships or in previous jobs. So rather than talking about these, draw attention to your accomplishments. Read the rest of this entry »
